Acknowledgement of projects, and lab course work done at other universities

Projects (in Heidelberg so-called 'mini research'), or lab course experiments done at other universities or comparable research institutes with physics subjects or methods may be acknowledged and credited for part or all of the Heidelberg Advanced Lab course requirements if the level is comparable. Guide line for the acknowledgement is the aim of the Heidelberg FP that the student become acquainted with the experimental methods of a large repertory of physics areas. Depending on the variety of subjects or methods covered, one task or project may count for one or more task credits of the FP. It is not required that the subject of your work be related to subjects of the Heidelberg FP. The acknowledgement is granted by the FP supervisor.

Software work without a physics background is not suitable. Data analysis and simulations of physics problems, however, are acceptable.

Seminar talks given in the context of experiments or projects can be acknowledged, too.

Project reports or lab course reports of adequate quality may be acknowledged as 'special write-ups'.

The application form for acknowledgement - at present only in German - is available by download or from the FP supervisor or Mr. Ludwig. Please make an appointment with the FP supervisor, Mr. Reygers (at INF 501 during his consultation hour, or as arranged by email or phone 54-9219) and bring along the relevant records (certificates, reports, logbooks, seminar talk or send the in by email in advance). Copies of records are normally not required.
